Gas leak detection and repair in Chelsea

Smell gas? Don't wait and see. We find and fix gas leaks in homes and businesses, pressure test the whole system and get you safely reconnected.

Finding a leak is methodical work. We isolate the system and run a pressure test to confirm there's a leak and how big it is, then trace it with an electronic gas detector along pipework, joints, appliance connections and flexible hoses, confirming suspect fittings with leak-detection fluid. Leaks are most often at old fittings, corroded pipes, perished hoses and appliance connections.

Once found, we repair or replace the faulty section, re-test the entire system, restore the supply and relight your appliances. If your gas bill has jumped and nothing else has changed, a slow leak is worth ruling out; a pressure test takes under an hour.

Common questions

I smell gas. Who do I call?

First make it safe: turn the gas off at the meter if you can do so safely, avoid flames and electrical switches, open doors and windows and get everyone outside. If the smell is strong or there's a fire, call 000. If the leak is at the meter or in the street, call your gas distributor's 24-hour fault line, which is printed on your gas bill. For a leak inside the property, call us.

How do you find a gas leak?

A pressure test on the system confirms there's a leak. We then trace it with an electronic detector and leak-detection fluid along the pipework, fittings and appliance connections until we find the exact spot.

Can I turn the gas back on myself?

Not until the system has been repaired and tested. Once the test passes we'll restore the supply, relight your appliances and show you where the meter tap is for next time.

My gas bill jumped and nothing changed. Could it be a leak?

Possibly. A slow leak underground or inside a wall can run for months without a noticeable smell. A pressure test takes less than an hour and settles the question.
