Gas heater installation and servicing in Chelsea
Ducted, wall furnace, flued console or space heater: we install, service and repair gas heaters and test for carbon monoxide, so your family stays warm and safe through winter.
Energy Safe Victoria recommends having gas heaters serviced at least every two years by a licensed gasfitter, and more often for older open-flued units. A service covers cleaning the burner and fan, checking the flue and heat exchanger, testing gas pressure and, most importantly, a carbon monoxide spillage test to make sure combustion gases aren't being drawn back into the room.
You can't see or smell carbon monoxide. Headaches, drowsiness and flu-like symptoms that clear up when you leave the house are warning signs. If you're worried, turn the heater off, open the windows and give us a call.
Installing or replacing a heater? We'll size it for the room, check flueing and ventilation, and connect and commission it. If you're replacing an older unit we'll tell you whether a like-for-like swap or a different type of heater is the better move.

Common questions
How often should a gas heater be serviced?
At least every two years, which is the Energy Safe Victoria recommendation. Older open-flued heaters benefit from a yearly check. Book before winter so you're not waiting in the cold.
What is a carbon monoxide test?
We run the heater and use a calibrated detector to check whether combustion gases are spilling into the room instead of going up the flue. It's quick, and it's the single most important safety check on any gas heater.
My heater smells when it first starts. Is that normal?
A faint dusty smell for a few minutes at the first use of the season is common. A gas smell, a smell that persists, or headaches and drowsiness while the heater runs are not. Turn it off and call us.
Do you do gas safety checks for rental properties?
Yes. Victorian rental laws require a gas safety check every two years by a licensed gasfitter. We do the check and provide the record for the owner or property manager.
